It comes with great pleasure to introduce my dear friend, Ed Templeton’s work. While I understand Ed needs no introduction, I am honored to speak about his mild-mannered demeanor and his unique ability to make very important art and photographs in his now mature years. Ed has a distinctive style in both the skateboarding community and transitioned nearly seamlessly, with yet another distinct style, into the art world… No easy task!

Knowing he was in peculiar and interesting situations at a young age, he picked up photography to document his world around him. Iconic photos captured by Ed can easily be seen of his generation in all forms of emotions, from the highest of highs to rock bottom, mundane lows.

An even more remarkable feat is his painting practice, which ran parallel
with his photography career and has become even more powerful and evocative of his surroundings in Huntington Beach. Vignettes of neighborhood interactions and daily routines are captured beautifully by Ed. I can only assume he discovered and then painted in his nearby home, a mere few blocks away from where he roams and peels back the harsh realities of California suburban life.

It is a privilege to share with you this older and wiser, very special individual with you, the one and only Ed Templeton.
